Tirzepatide (LY-3298176) is a synthetic 39-amino acid peptide and dual agonist of the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors. Derived from the native GIP sequence, it incorporates a C20 fatty di-acid moiety that binds serum albumin to extend its circulating half-life. As an incretin co-agonist it is used as a reference compound in metabolic and receptor-pharmacology research.
