Melanotan II (MT-2) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) and a non-selective agonist of the melanocortin receptors (MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, MC5R). Its lactam-bridge cyclic structure and N-terminal acetylation extend its stability relative to linear analogues. It is used as a reference compound in melanocortin receptor and pigmentation research.
